A truck driver and his assistant were killed in a road accident early today (2 May) in the Tiprodi area on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway in the Sonargaon area under Narayanganj.
The deceased were driver Mohammad Ali, 35 and his assistant Monir Khalifa, 28.
According to Kanchpur highway police, the truck rammed forcefully into the rear of an unidentified vehicle at high speed.
As a result, both the driver and his helper became trapped inside the cabin of the truck. Fire service personnel rescued them and rushed them to Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
Kanchpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Shamim Ahmed said the bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue, adding that legal proceedings are underway.
