The health directorate has recorded five more deaths from dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,872 new patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period — the highest daily number of admissions so far this year.
The latest deaths take the country’s dengue death toll to 195, according to a press release issued today (22 September) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest daily admissions surpassed the previous high of 1,753 cases recorded on 16 September.
Of the five deaths reported in the last 24 hours, one each was recorded in Barishal division, Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation, while two were reported in Rajshahi division.
Meanwhile, 1,477 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals during the same period, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 60,560.
The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country has now reached 65,499.
