Taylor Frankie Paul says she’s been staying single and celibate as she works through what she calls her “redemption arc” after a cheating scandal that upended her season of The Bachelorette.
The 32-year-old reality star shared the update on Instagram over the weekend, addressing her love life for the first time since her season was pulled from ABC’s schedule earlier this year.
Paul’s season, which premiered on Hulu this week, showed her getting engaged to contestant Doug Mason. However, she later revealed she cheated on Mason with her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, with whom she shares a 2-year-old son. Paul is also mom to two older children from a previous marriage.
In her recent post, Paul said she’s remained single and celibate since the controversy and vowed not to let anyone get close to her again unless it’s someone she considers truly right for her.
“Sorry to those that thought they were going to see my redemption arc,” she wrote over a picture of herself posing in a pink dress and sitting on a bed of red roses.
“That has slowly just begun. I’ve stayed in, single and celibate this entire time and nobody will have intimate access to me again unless he’s my person and that’s a promise to myself.”
She shared photos from a previously shelved magazine shoot, joking about the possibility of returning for a second season of The Bachelorette and floating the idea of releasing behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot.
“A magazine cover I never got the chance to share but was one of the most fun shoots…. ps should we release the tapes now just to see? ..and maybe bachelorette round two?? lmfao.”
Paul’s season was abruptly pulled from ABC just before its scheduled premiere after resurfaced footage from 2023 showed her throwing metal chairs at Mortensen during a heated altercation, one of which reportedly struck her child. Paul has also accused Mortensen of domestic violence.
The former couple was previously locked in a custody dispute over their son, which was resolved earlier this year when a judge lifted supervision requirements for Paul’s parenting time.
The custody arrangement grants Paul weekly visits without overnights, along with alternating weekends, while Mortensen retains custody during holidays. Both parents have been ordered not to make disparaging comments about each other publicly.
