Helen Mirren recently revealed who she relies on for her health as she started avoiding doctors.
At the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday, September 12, the 81-year-old English actress chatted with Entertainment Weekly to promote her forthcoming movie, A Talent for Murder.
While touching on different topics, Mirren opened up about avoiding doctors, confessing that she now relies on artificial intelligence for her health.
She told the outlet, “I ought to be diagnosed with the ‘opposite of hypochondria,’ I just completely ignore everything.”
Her co-star Alden Ehrenreich went on to ask her if she meant she refrains from visiting doctors, to which she responded, “Totally deny. I avoid doctors. Oh no, totally. And it’s working.”
After listening to her thoughts, Ehrenreich, who called himself a hypochondriac earlier in the discussion, stated that having a doctor in his house would have “thrilled” him.
“Well, you do. It’s called AI,” Mirren informed, adding, “You know, AI is amazing. ‘It hurts, but it doesn’t hurt that much!’ Oh, it’s incredible.”
It is pertinent to mention that hypochondria, also known as health anxiety or illness anxiety disorder, is a mental health condition in which a person fears undiagnosed and serious medical illness. It includes repeated checking for heart rate, pain, and lumps.
Notably, Helen Mirren’s film A Talent for Murder is set to be released in theatres on October 23, 2026, under the banner of Bleeker Street and LD Entertainment.
