Cillian Murphy’s son is turning heads for more than just his acting career.
Aran Murphy, 19, is set to appear in the upcoming HBO series Youth, but it’s his uncanny resemblance to his father that’s capturing attention online.
After walking the red carpet in London for the show’s premiere on Friday, photos of Aran quickly spread across social media, with fans commenting on just how closely he resembles the Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders star.
Many joked that he looked like an exact copy of his dad, with some saying no DNA test was needed to prove the connection.
Beyond his looks, fans also picked up on similarities in the way Aran speaks and carries himself. In a promotional interview for Youth shared on Instagram, viewers noted that his mannerisms and phrasing also closely echoed his father’s.
Aran has been interested in acting since childhood, appearing in a stage production of Hamnet at age 11. He made his film debut in 2022’s Lola and later joined the cast of Klara and the Sun, Taika Waititi’s adaptation of the Kazuo Ishiguro novel, alongside Amy Adams and Jenna Ortega. He also joined the cast of HBO and Sky’s WAR last year.
Cillian, 50, shares Aran and older son Malachy, 20, with wife Yvonne McGuinness. The couple has intentionally kept their sons out of the spotlight growing up, raising them away from the pressures of Hollywood.
Though both boys were born in London, the family relocated to Dublin in 2015 to reconnect with Cillian’s Irish roots.
