Police say the suspects were arrested within four hours of the case being filed, and the motive behind the killing is being investigated.

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard in Chattogram’s Double Mooring area within four hours of a case being filed, police said today (17 July).
The information was disclosed by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Faisal Ahmmed at a press briefing held at the CMP Media Centre in Dampara Police Lines.
The arrestees are Sheikh Ahmed Rubel, 35, Md Saiful Islam, 27, Moniruzzaman Mamun, 28, Md Jamal Uddin Mizan, 45, Md Golam Rabbani, 55, Md Abul Bashar, 39, and Peyar Ahmed, 55.
According to police, Abu Siddique, a security guard at a garage, was assaulted by a group of men after they entered the premises around 10pm on 15 July. The attackers punched and beat Siddique before one of them repeatedly struck him with the iron rim of a rickshaw wheel kept inside the garage, leaving him dead at the scene.
The suspects then allegedly loaded the body onto a mini pickup truck in an attempt to conceal the crime, police said.
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s relative, Md Aslam, Double Mooring Model Police Station registered a murder case. Police then launched an operation and arrested all seven named accused within four hours of the case being filed.
The additional commissioner of CMP also said the accused had admitted to their involvement in the killing during preliminary interrogation.
Further details could not be disclosed at this stage in the interest of the investigation, he added.
He further mentioned that police were continuing their investigation to establish the motive behind the killing, identify any additional suspects, and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
