Train services on the Dhaka-Santahar route have been temporarily suspended after a goods coach of the Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express derailed at Santahar Junction in Bogura today (7 September).
The coach, located at the rear of the train, went off the tracks and ended up on an adjacent line around 7pm, police said.
No casualties were reported as the derailed coach was being used to carry goods, said Dulal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Santahar Railway Police Station.
“The last coach of the train, where goods are kept, derailed. The recovery operation has begun,” he said.
The train has remained stranded for around an hour following the incident, while train movement on the Dhaka-bound line is currently suspended.
Santahar Railway Station Master Khadija Khatun said she had heard about the incident and was on her way to the station after receiving the news.
