A Dhaka court today (20 August) set 27 September for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a report on its further investigation into the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam set the deadline after the CID failed to submit the report today.
The court had ordered further investigation on 15 January following a naraji petition filed by the complainant, who expressed dissatisfaction with the charge sheet submitted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
DB Inspector Foysal Ahmed submitted the charge sheet on 6 January against 17 accused, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents, Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.
According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain allegedly opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on 12 December 2025. They then fled the scene.
Hadi later died of his injuries on 18 December.
Abdullah Al Zaber, member secretary of Inqilab Mancha, filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on 14 December.
The case was initially filed as an attempted murder case.
Following Hadi’s death, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad ordered the inclusion of Section 302 of the Penal Code, which deals with murder, on 20 December.
