Another child has died with measles-like symptoms in Sylhet in the last 24 hours, raising the number of deaths with measles-like symptoms in the Sylhet division to four.
The 10-month-old child died this morning (15 April) at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital while undergoing treatment.
Confirming the matter, the hospital’s Assistant Director (Administration) Dr Md Kamruzzaman said the child died in the morning while receiving treatment. He added that the child was also suffering from heart failure and other underlying diseases. He said the hospital has full preparations in place to manage measles cases.
Meanwhile, three new patients were confirmed through laboratory tests in the last 24 hours.
According to the health department, a total of 45 laboratory-confirmed cases have been recorded in the division between 1 January and 11 April.
In the last 24 hours, 30 new suspected patients were admitted to different hospitals, while a total of 107 patients with symptoms are currently receiving treatment across the division.
Among them, 62 patients are admitted to Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmad Hospital and 9 are undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Earlier, three more children died on 10 April, 8 April and 6 April. All of them were under two years of age.
