Police arrested Bidisha Ershad, former wife of late Jatiya Party chairman and former president Hussain Muhammad Ershad, in a fraud case in the capital’s Gulshan area tonight (25 August).
She was arrested around 8:30pm, M Tanvir Ahmed, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan Division, confirmed to The Business Standard.
“She had an arrest warrant issued against her in a fraud case,” he said.
According to police sources, Bidisha was sentenced to two years in prison and fined Tk10,000 in the case. She was arrested after the court issued a warrant against her.
