The Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 will be held from 12 to 14 September, with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman scheduled to inaugurate the three-day event.
An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Ministry of Science and Technology in Dhaka today (24 August) to review preparations and ensure the fair is organised smoothly. Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain chaired the meeting.
Representatives from the ministries of home affairs, defence, health, information and broadcasting, power, and housing and public works, as well as law enforcement agencies and relevant service organisations, attended the meeting.
Around 15 policy dialogues and sessions will be held at the fair’s main auditorium and round-table venue. Teachers, students and researchers from leading universities, along with senior policymakers, are expected to participate.
Senior economists, leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and various chambers, as well as business leaders, representatives from bKash and Bangladesh Bank, foreign representatives and embassy officials, are also expected to attend.
The event will be organised on a larger scale than previous editions, covering three floors of the venue and the adjoining field.
Authorities have prioritised infrastructure, security and visitor management based on lessons from previous editions.
The Public Works Department has been asked to ensure the venue is properly prepared, while the Power Division and engineering teams will take measures to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the event.
With a large turnout expected, security, traffic management, sanitation and cleanliness have been identified as key challenges. Special arrangements are being made to manage visitors and ensure the fair runs smoothly over the three days.
The fair is being organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, with the National Museum of Science and Technology serving as the implementing agency.
