90-metre ‘Dhaka Eye’ ferris wheel in Bashundhara beckon new thrills

A 90-metre Ferris wheel, roughly the height of a 24-storey building, is taking shape at Central Park in Bashundhara Residential Area’s N Block, where Tanvir Bashundhara Group is developing an entertainment complex over around 47 bighas of land.

Dubbed the “Dhaka Eye”, the giant wheel has already reached its full circular structure, while work on the cabins and other facilities across the site is still under way.

With a rotational diameter of around 82 metres, the wheel will have 48 passenger cabins, each accommodating up to six people. Around 288 passengers will therefore be able to ride at a time, according to project information provided by the organisation’s PR department. 

A complete rotation is expected to take around 20 minutes, offering passengers views across the capital and surrounding areas, they said. 

The aluminium-alloy cabins will have air conditioning, seats, fire extinguishers and manually operated doors, they added. 

More attractions taking shape

“The ‘Dhaka Eye’ will be the centrepiece of the wider entertainment complex, which will also include several other rides and recreational facilities,” said the PR department. 

These include a roller coaster, Spider Wheel, and Drop Tower, along with other rides. An indoor play zone is also being developed for children and families.

The project has described the roller coaster as one of the tallest in Southeast Asia, although no height or comparative data was provided to TBS to independently verify the claim.

While the main structure of the Ferris wheel has been completed, work remains on the cabins and other components required before the ride can become operational. Construction of the other attractions is also continuing across the site.

According to the organisation, the entertainment complex is targeted to open in July 2027.

For now, the 90-metre “Dhaka Eye” remains the most visible sign of the development taking shape at Central Park.
