Fifty-nine sustainable brand initiatives were recognised for their contributions to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Bangladesh at the “SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026”, held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka on Friday (17 July).
At the fourth edition of the awards, 34 initiatives received the Winner accolade, while 25 earned Honourable Mentions.
An initiative of the Bangladesh Innovation Conclave, the awards recognise private organisations and brands that demonstrate outstanding commitment to achieving the SDGs in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Brand Forum and the Sustainable Brand Initiative organise the programme.
This year’s event, titled “AkijBashir Group Presents SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026,” was powered by SMC Enterprise Limited and American International University-Bangladesh, in association with PRAN-RFL Group and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
A total of 472 nominations were submitted across 19 categories aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and their relevance to Bangladesh. Winners were selected through a multi-stage evaluation process conducted by seven grand jury panels comprising 27 experts from diverse industries.
“We are at a defining moment where brands must go beyond promises and lead with purpose,” said Shariful Islam, founder and managing director of Bangladesh Brand Forum.
“The SDG Brand Champion Awards celebrate organisations that are not only aligning with the SDGs but also driving measurable change. These champions are setting the benchmark for responsible business in Bangladesh,” he added.
The awards followed the fourth edition of the Sustainability Summit 2026, which brought together policymakers, business leaders and sustainability experts to discuss how sustainability is reshaping business competitiveness and long-term growth.
The summit featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, insight sessions, case study presentations, an expert deep dive and a policy dialogue.
Speakers included Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Masud Khan, Professor Emeritus Philip Kotler of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, ResInt Sustainability Institute President Dr Khalid Hasan, and Hindustan Unilever Foundation Chief Executive Officer Dr Shraman Jha.
