Two Bangladeshi nationals were shot and injured allegedly by members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Bashantapur frontier in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira district today (3 June).
The victims were identified as Mohiuddin, 42, son of Golam Rabbani, and Md Shahin, 28, son of Fazar Ali Sardar of Kaliganj upazila.
They are now undergoing treatment at Satkhira Medical College and Hospital, said Jewel Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.
He said both of them went to India illegally one year ago.
Locals said BSF members opened fire on them early today when they attempted to enter the country through the Kalindi River, leaving them injured.
Later, local people took them to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex from where they were shifted to Satkhira Medical College and Hospital.
