The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Dhaka has called on Bangladeshi organisations, schools and young innovators to participate in the 2027 cycle of the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize, a global award that recognises and supports innovative solutions to sustainability and humanitarian challenges.
The prize, an initiative of Earth Zayed Philanthropies, carries forward the vision and legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, by supporting projects that contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable future, reads a press release.
The UAE Embassy said it hopes to see broader participation from Bangladeshi organisations in the competition, which is now accepting submissions for its 2027 edition.
Under the prize’s categories of Health, Food, Energy, Water and Climate Action, nonprofit organisations can win up to US$1 million to scale up their impact and advance sustainable development initiatives, the press release added.
In addition, winners in the Global High Schools category will receive $150,000 to implement or expand student-led sustainability projects in their communities.
The prize also offers substantial support to finalists. Nonprofit organisation finalists will receive $100,000, while finalists in the Global High Schools category will receive $25,000 each.
The winners will be announced during the 2027 Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony. The application deadline is 22 June 2026.
Interested applicants can find further information and submit applications through the official website www.zayedsustainabilityprize.com.
The embassy also noted that Bangladeshi participants, including school students, representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and young entrepreneurs, have previously taken part in the initiative and received recognition through awards in various categories for their outstanding contributions to sustainability and innovation.
