Major (retd) Md Mozzaffar Hossain, convicted over the assassination of former president Ziaur Rahman, has been brought before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in connection with a case filed over crimes against humanity committed during the 2024 July Uprising.
He was produced before the tribunal this morning (23 July) as a judicial panel, led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, chairman of ICT-2, is scheduled to hear the case today.
According to the prosecution, a production warrant was issued against Mozaffar following allegations of his involvement in crimes against humanity committed during the Awami League regime.
The prosecution is expected to submit an application seeking permission to show him arrested in the case and for questioning.
Earlier on 21 July, the prosecution had submitted an application requesting the issuance of a production warrant against Mozaffar, who was arrested few days ago after 45 years on the run.
Following the hearing, the tribunal directed the authorities to produce him before it today.
