US Special Envoy for Best Future Generations Charles J Harder will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow (18 April) for a three-day visit focused on advancing strategic cooperation between Washington and Dhaka on child welfare and education.
During his visit, Harder is scheduled to meet with senior Bangladeshi government officials and other key stakeholders to explore ways of expanding partnerships that benefit the country’s next generation, according to a press release issued today.
No further details of specific agreements or programmes were announced ahead of the visit.
Harder’s office, established under the US State Department, focuses on the protection and well-being of children worldwide, with a particular focus on food security, education, healthcare, water and sanitation, as well as the elimination of child labour, trafficking and the recruitment of minors into gangs and armed conflict.
The special envoy also regularly meets with representatives of foundations, corporations, non-profit organisations, faith-based groups and international governmental organisations to develop practical solutions to child welfare challenges, according to his bio on the US State Department website.
