A high-level US delegation led by Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor visited Cox’s Bazar today (31 July) to inspect the condition of displaced Rohingya from Myanmar living in refugee camps.
The 14-member delegation, which includes US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen, arrived at Cox’s Bazar Airport at around 12pm before travelling directly to the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya.
Officials from the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission said the delegation is scheduled to first visit World Food Programme projects at Rohingya Camp 4.
The delegation is also set to visit the Extension 8W camp and Camp 6.
After the camp visit, the delegation will hold a meeting with the Refugee Relief and Repatriation commissioner and other officials at North End Coffee Restaurant in Ukhiya before departing for Dhaka in the evening.
