Two directors of Prime Bank PLC—MJL Bangladesh PLC and Nafis Sikder—declared their intention to buy a combined total of nearly 49 lakh shares of the bank worth Tk13.91 crore, according to disclosures published today (23 September).
According to the disclosures, MJL Bangladesh intends to buy around 30.14 lakh shares, while Nafis Sikder plans to acquire 18.85 lakh shares.
Both directors will purchase the shares through the block market of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) at the prevailing market price by 29 October, according to the disclosures.
Block market transactions allow institutional investors and corporate entities to execute large-volume trades at negotiated or prevailing market prices without immediately causing volatility in the standard order book.
Considering Prime Bank’s current market price at Tk28.40 each, the value of the intended shares stands at Tk13.91 crore at the DSE.
In June this year, MJL Bangladesh bought 19.46 lakh shares and Nafis Sikder bought 12.17 lakh shares of the bank at the prevailing market price.
MJL Bangladesh held 4.67 crore shares of the bank, while Nafis Sikder 2.92 crore shares, according to annual report for 2025.
Prime Bank posted a profit of Tk433.29 crore with an earnings per share (EPS) of Tk3.56 in the first half of 2026, which is higher from Tk409.71 crore in the same time of the previous year.
In 2025, it made a profit of Tk909.88 crore and paid 25% cash dividend to its shareholders.
