Taylor Swift was reportedly the genius behind custom Knicks shirts that stole the spotlight during Game 4 of the NBA finals.
As revealed by Este Haim, Swift came up with the idea for the trio’s matching blue T-shirts, which featured orange text and playful Knicks-themed pop culture puns.
This comes after Taylor, Este and Alana wore the matching t-shirts while cheering on the New York Knicks during Game 4 on June 10.
The Grammy-winner’s shirt read Stevie Knicks, a nod to music icon Stevie Nicks, while Alana Haim wore Knickleback, inspired by Nickelback. Este’s own shirt, Knickole Kidman, paid tribute to actress Nicole Kidman.
Speaking with People Magazine, Este said, “Taylor is a genius.”
“She was the one that came up with the idea, and Alana was the one that executed it. I just was the body, the vessel that housed the shirt,” the HAIM bassist and vocalist added.
She went on to reveal that the idea came together as the group brainstormed Knicks-themed names and simply wanted to have fun with the moment.
Recalling how the trio “had an entire campaign about how much we love Nicole Kidman,” Este said, “I mean, it’s no secret that we love her, we’re huge fans of hers.”
“And it kind of lent itself to the T-shirt. It was the first name that came to mind when we were all brainstorming what Knicks-themed names we would use,” she added.
The HAIM sisters and Taylor Swift have been longtime pals.
