Coco Rocha revealed her least-favorite fashion trend.
The supermodel and entrepreneur caught up with PEOPLE at the CLD PR NYFW Kickoff event at the ModernHaus SoHo’s JIMMY in New York City.
During the conversation, the 38-year-old runway beauty shared that she believes following seasonal trends gets in the way of true personal expression.
“The [most overrated] fall fashion trend is the word trend,” Rocha explained, adding that she considers most trends to be merely “copycats.”
“So, don’t go for the trends, girls. Just do you,” she added.
Rocha continued, “Wear whatever you want to wear. I think it’s so cute when I see someone with a very specific look — especially in New York — people are like, ‘Yes, that’s her thing.’ And you’ll see the next girl and she’s got her own thing going. That to me should be the trend, right? Be you.”
The Project Runway Canada host also echoed the sentiment while previously speaking to PEOPLE during the Fashion Group International’s 30th Annual FGI Rising Star Awards, which she hosted in New York City in April.
“Whatever you want to wear, go wear it,” Rocha said while sharing her personal style philosophy.
“We are not curing cancer, we’re not changing the world, we’re having fun. So, enjoy wearing whatever you want to wear, if it’s trending or not,” she insisted. “The trend should be whatever you fabulously want.”
During the recent NYFW kickoff event, Rocha shared how she is currently keeping busy after just wrapped the most recent season of Project Runway Canada.
She also revealed that she is releasing a purse in collaboration with Baggallini. “It’s called the Super Bagg. It’s about helping the woman that does it all and [it’s] just a bag that she can carry everything — her whole life in.”
The mom of three further mentioned, “And then lastly, I am about to … go on QBC to sell my line out there called OFF/DUTY,” referring to her new ready-to-wear fashion line. “So, I’m very excited. Lots going on,” Coco Rocha said.
