The pass rate in the SSC examinations under the Barishal Board has increased to 60.35% this year, although the number of students achieving GPA-5 has declined compared with last year.
A total of 48,555 students passed the examination this year, compared with a pass rate of 56.38% last year.
Professor Abdus Salam, secretary of the Barishal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, confirmed the results at 10am today (10 August).
He said 82,901 students registered for the examination this year, of whom 80,458 appeared. A total of 24 students were expelled.
This year, 2,778 students achieved GPA 5, down from 3,114 last year.
A total of 1,515 schools from six districts of the division participated in the examination. Students from 15 schools achieved a 100% pass rate.
There were 216 examination centres across the division.
Despite the rise in the overall pass rate, the number of GPA 5 achievers fell this year.
