Speaker Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has constituted a five-member high-level committee to investigate alleged irregularities in parliament highlighted in a recent media report.
The report, titled “Massive Irregularities (Horiloot) in Parliament Procurement,” was published in the daily Bangladesh Pratidin and several online portals on 19 April.
As the report came to the notice of the highest authority of parliament, the speaker today (21 April) formed the probe committee to look into the matter, said a press release from the Parliament Secretariat.
The committee is headed by Whip and Lakshmipur-4 MP ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan as convener.
The other members are MPs Lutfullahel Mazed (Mymensingh-8), Md Saiful Alam (Dhaka-12), Humam Quader Chowdhury (Chattogram-7) and Md Abul Hasnat (Cumilla-4).
The committee has been asked to submit its investigation report within seven days.
