South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Kim Ji-joon today (21 July) paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brig Gen (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment.
The two reaffirmed the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea, according to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release issued today afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed opportunities to support the ongoing modernisation and capability enhancement of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, focusing on cooperation in military equipment, defence technology transfer, shipbuilding, joint training and advanced military education.
Both sides expressed their commitment to expanding collaboration in these areas and further strengthening bilateral defence ties.
The discussions also explored ways to elevate the existing defence and diplomatic relationship between the two countries, with both sides expressing optimism that future initiatives would further deepen bilateral friendship and defence cooperation, the ISPR said.
