A trolley of a rescue train derailed at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria this afternoon (2 October), leaving a railway employee injured and disrupting train services on one line of the Dhaka-Chattogram route.
The incident occurred around 4:30pm near the yard of Akhaura Railway Station when four wheels of the trolley derailed as the rescue train was leaving the yard for Sylhet, said Akhaura Railway Station Cabin Master Mainul Haque.
As a result, train movement between Dhaka and Chattogram has been suspended on the down line.
Swapan, a railway employee, was injured in the incident and is receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Railway authorities are working to remove the derailed carriage and restore train services as quickly as possible, the cabin master said.
