RAB recovered a one-shooter gun, four rounds of bullets, 12.25kg of cannabis, 42 yaba pills, 16 grams of heroin, six machetes, one locally made sword and a rickshaw used for transporting drugs, confirmed RAB-2 Deputy Director (Media) Major M Mubin Rahman Taposh today (8 May).
He said five operational teams of RAB-2 conducted simultaneous raids in areas under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Adabor and Mohammadpur police stations yesterday based on intelligence about drug traders and muggers.
During the drive in the Shyamoli area, several suspected drug traders attempted to flee in a rickshaw after noticing the presence of RAB members. Five people were detained at the spot.
“Based on information obtained during interrogation, RAB recovered 12.25kg of cannabis, valued at about Tk376,500, from the rickshaw. The vehicle used for drug transportation was also seized,” he said.
In separate operations, another team arrested two alleged drug traders with 42 yaba pills and one person with 16 grams of heroin from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and Mohammadpur areas.
He further said that during primary interrogation, the detainees admitted to collecting drugs from border areas at low prices and selling them at higher prices in different parts of the capital.
In another operation, two individuals were arrested in Mohammadpur with five machetes, while one person was detained in Adabor with a machete during an attempted robbery.
RAB said they were involved in organised robbery, theft and other criminal activities.
