Pickup catches fire outside South Keraniganj police station

A seized pickup caught fire in front of South Keraniganj Police Station in Dhaka tonight (19 September) night, adding to a series of vehicle fires reported at different points across the capital.

The fire broke out at around 9:30pm on the main road outside the police station, where the pickup had been parked after being seized by police.

South Keraniganj Police Station Investigation Officer Azgar Ali confirmed the incident to The Business Standard.

“Someone set fire to a seized pickup around 9:30pm. We are looking into the matter. More details will be provided later,” he said.

The vehicle fire came hours after three passenger buses caught fire in separate incidents in Dhaka, including two in Mirpur and another in central Badda.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fires and working to identify those responsible for setting the vehicles ablaze.
