A staff bus caught fire while parked at the Madhya Badda U-loop in Dhaka tonight (19 September), shortly after two passenger buses caught fire in Mirpur.
The fire broke out in an Alif Enterprise bus at around 7:50pm opposite the Canadian University of Bangladesh, according to police.
Badda police station Sub-Inspector Hasanul confirmed the incident to The Business Standard, saying the bus was parked by the roadside when it caught fire.
“It is a staff bus. We are investigating who or what caused the fire. Senior officials are at the scene,” he said.
A video of the incident shows flames engulfing the bus as several people try to put out the fire with water.
Earlier in the evening, two passenger buses caught fire in Mirpur – one in Mirpur-11 at around 7:15pm and another in Mirpur-1 at around 7:30pm.
