Patwary should be questioned over crude bomb remark: DMP

National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary should be questioned over his recent remarks about crude bomb explosions in Dhaka, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Crime Prevention-South) Md Tofayel Ahmed Mia.

He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists at a briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road today (25 September).

Patwary recently said there would be no further crude bomb explosions in Dhaka if the government accepted the NCP’s three main demands.

Journalists asked whether those behind the recent crude bomb blasts in the capital were limited to leaders and activists of banned organisations or whether others were also involved.

In response, Tofayel said Patwary should be asked to explain his comment.

“He should be questioned about why he made this statement. I think he should certainly be questioned,” the joint commissioner said.

Asked whether police could directly question the NCP leader, Tofayel said the decision would have to be taken by senior police officials.
