The Parliamentary Caucus on Climate Change and Displacement, formed with members of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, held its first meeting at the Parliament Complex today (4 October) to discuss its proposed work plan and future activities.
Chaired by caucus Chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury, the meeting discussed ways to advance the caucus’s work on climate change and displacement and recommended inviting representatives of relevant ministries and government agencies to its next meeting.
Representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives; Internal Resources Division; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Water Resources; and Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief were recommended for invitation.
The meeting also proposed forming a coordination committee involving representatives of the concerned Ministries to strengthen coordination on climate change and displacement issues.

Caucus members Amirul Islam Khan, Rashedul Islam Rashed, Anwarul Haque, Rumeen Farhana and Marzia Begum attended the meeting.
The meeting began with Quran recitation, followed by an introductory session involving the caucus chairman and members, officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant officials of the Parliament Secretariat.
The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Managing Director of RMMRU, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat were also present.
