Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country remained suspended after a wagon of an oil tanker train derailed inside Lawachara National Park between Bhanugach and Sreemangal railway stations in Moulvibazar this afternoon (29 May).
The incident occurred around 3:30pm inside the Lawachara forest area in Kamalganj when an empty wagon of an oil-carrying train heading towards Akhaura from Sylhet went off the tracks, according to railway officials.
Shamshernagar Railway Station Master Rajat Kumar Roy said rail communication with Sylhet remained suspended until the wagon could be recovered.
Railway sources said recovery efforts were underway and a hydraulic tool van was being brought to the site to recover the derailed wagon.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
