No separate notification for MPO teachers under new pay scale: Education secretary

Teachers and employees at MPO-listed private educational institutions will not need a separate notification to receive salaries and allowances under the new pay scale, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque said today (30 September).

The gazette issued for government employees would also apply to MPO-listed teachers and employees, he said at the closing ceremony of a training programme at the National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) in Dhaka.

The education secretary said they would receive their salaries and allowances under the notification already issued.

He also said the government had taken steps to address long delays in paying retirement benefits to teachers and employees of private educational institutions.

“In the past, teachers and employees had to wait for years to receive their retirement benefits,” he said, adding that they had now started receiving the money following government measures to resolve the problem.

Khaleque said the government would train five lakh MPO-listed teachers as part of efforts to improve the quality of education.

“We are working sincerely to improve the quality of education,” he said.
