Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced a special metro rail schedule for the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, with services to remain suspended only on Eid day.
According to the schedule published today (21 May), metro rail services in the capital will operate under limited timings and fixed headways to ensure passenger convenience during the holidays.
The government has already declared a seven-day holiday for Eid-ul-Adha, from 25 May to 31 May. The country will celebrate Eid on 28 May.
The first train from Uttara North Station will depart at 6:30am, while the first train from Motijheel Station will leave at 7:15am, as per the special metro rail schedule.
The last train from Uttara North will depart at 9:30pm, and the final train from Motijheel will leave at 10:10pm.
Authorities said trains will operate throughout the day within the fixed schedule, maintaining headways ranging from a minimum of 12 minutes to a maximum of 15 minutes, according to a DMTCL press release.
The number of trips may be adjusted depending on passenger pressure, it said, adding that around 140 trips are initially planned using seven train sets.
Under the special arrangement, passengers will be able to purchase single journey tickets and recharge MRT/Rapid Pass cards from 6:40am to 1:20am. Passengers will also be able to buy Rapid Pass cards at all stations within these hours.
On Fridays, however, ticket sales at Uttara North Station will begin at 2:45pm, while sales at Motijheel Station will start at 3:05pm.
Authorities also said all metro rail station ticket counters and ticket vending machines will be closed after 9:20pm, confirmed Md Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, deputy project director (public relations) of the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-6).
