National Treasure fans are fastening their seatbelts as the third instalment of the movie is on its way with Nicolas Cage reprising his role as Benjamin Gates.
Almost 20 years since National Treasure sequel was released, the director of the Disney adventure franchise announced the thrilling news that the third part of the movie is “finally” happening.
During a live recording of the National Treasure Hunt podcast, director Jon Turteltaub told the viewers, “I was thinking about mentioning this tonight, I’ll say it tonight, It’s happening. You’re the first people I have said this out loud to.”
“It’s finally real,” he declared.
On the other hand, Jon also shed light on the uncertainty of Hollywood that the status of the second sequel of National Treasure can change at any time
He explained, “Now, it’s ‘Hollywood real,’ meaning things can happen.
“Nic gets hit by a bus, there’s no National Treasure. If I get hit by a bus, there’s probably a National Treasure. Welcome to Hollywood, that’s Hollywood.”
Jon told the audience that a script for the third installment not only is complete but has been approved by him and Disney, noting the studio told him that it “sounds like a movie we can make.”
The first film, also starring Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha, sees historian Ben race to find a legendary Knights Templar treasure hidden by American Founding Fathers.
