State Minister for Land Ministry Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin today (4 September) urged all irrespective of political affiliations, to build a united resistance to protect the young generation from the devastating grasp of drugs.
“Controlling drugs is not our only goal, our ultimate objective is to completely eliminate drugs from society and for this building a united social
resistance is crucial,” he said.
The state minister said this while addressing as the chief guest at an anti-drug civic gathering here yesterday.
Bandarban District Police organised the event at the Cultural Institute of Small Ethnic Groups with Bandarban Superintendent of Police Md Wahabul Islam Khandaker in the chair.
Mir Helal said drugs are silent killers that destroy the life of a promising individual, leaves a family helpless and pushes the future of an entire nation into darkness.
“Every family in the country must become a fortress of awareness in this fight against drugs. From guardians of families to people from all walks of society, everyone must speak out against drugs from their respective positions,” he continued.
“It is essential to ensure greater participation in sports, healthy entertainment and educational activities so that youths do not lose their way under any circumstances,” the state minister added.
Besides, strict legal actions against drugs minces, he stresses for building a strong social movement against drugs.
Representatives of law enforcement agencies and administration were present at the meeting, among others.
