Eight more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8:00am today (16 July), raising the total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in Bangladesh to 779.
Of the total deaths, 684 were suspected measles cases, while 95 were laboratory-confirmed, according to the DGHS.
The DGHS also reported 978 new suspected measles cases during the period, bringing the total to 1,15,138. Another 197 cases were confirmed through laboratory tests, taking the cumulative number of confirmed infections to 14,104. Since 15 March, when authorities began issuing regular updates, the DGHS has recorded 97,819 hospital admissions with suspected measles.
Of them, 94,275 have recovered and returned home.
