Yo, [expletive] Nabokov, man. That guy is like a complete perv. Well, “Lolita” hasn’t exactly aged well. Nah, I gotta say, this is a weird-ass first choice for our prison book club, Jacki. Jesus Christ. Sorry. But I really like the prose. You finished? I’m still on chapter 15. I wished it was longer. It’s “War and Peace,” no one has said that ever. I haven’t read it since the eighth grade, I had braces. Yeah, made me miss having a dog. That way a dog looks at you? I wish I could bring mine to visit. Dottie. Dottie, the dog! I’ve had her for 10 years. Through grad school, two relationships, an engagement. Yeah. She’s the story of my decade. Mine was Jocko. Big, beautiful sheepdog. But he ran away. It’s strange to think I’ll never have another dog again. Or a kid. Or get married. Fall in love. I think you got the order wrong. You were engaged? Oh, yeah. Until last year. Yeah. It felt like I spent all my days with just one person. And sometimes one person can feel like a whole world. And sometimes one person can feel like, like just one person. Yeah, right. So, which is this?
