Jubo Dal president demands Patwary’s arrest over crude bomb blasts, calls him ‘ringleader’

Jubo Dal President Abdul Monaem Munna today (22 September) demanded the immediate arrest of National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, accusing him of being the “ringleader” behind recent crude bomb blasts and bus arson incidents.

Munna made the demand at a rally and procession organised by Dhaka South Metropolitan Jubo Dal at BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan under the banner “Against Destabilising the Country Through Planned Terrorism”.

Citing remarks made by Patwary, Munna alleged that the NCP leader had effectively acknowledged a connection to the recent attacks.

“He (Patwary) said that if the 11-party demands were met, the crude bomb attacks would stop. That means they are the ones throwing the crude bombs. He must be brought to justice for all the crude bomb explosions and bus arson incidents,” Munna said.

“He must be arrested as the ringleader of the crude bomb attacks,” he added.

Munna also referred to Satkhira-4 MP Gazi Nazrul Islam and the death of his 19-year-old second wife, Mariam Khatun.

He said the controversy surrounding the lawmaker had subjected the young woman, whom he described as coming from a poor family, to widespread trolling.

“The day before yesterday, did that girl commit suicide or was she killed? An elected MP had a responsibility to keep his constituents safe – but the opposite has happened here,” he said.

Police are investigating a case filed over the alleged abetment of Mariam’s death, while Nazrul has been placed on a four-day remand.

Munna also condemned an assault on students at Rajshahi Railway Station and demanded the arrest of Salauddin Ammar over the incident and alleged vandalism at the station.

“Those who want to destabilise Bangladesh through conspiracy have been identified by the people. Jubo Dal is on the streets and has the capacity to confront these conspiracies,” he said.
