State Minister for Foreign Affairs-1 Humaiun Kobir and State Minister for Foreign Affairs-2 Shama Obaed Islam have been assigned separate duties to assist the foreign minister in carrying out his responsibilities.
According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (23 August), the duty allocation has been approved by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Humaiun Kobir will handle bilateral and multilateral affairs, non-resident Bangladeshis and any other matters assigned by the foreign minister.
Shama Obaed Islam, an MP, will oversee the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, human rights, research and innovation, environment and climate change, creative economy, LDC graduation, ICT, maritime law and ocean resources, global health diplomacy, and cultural and sports diplomacy.
The circular said both state ministers will perform their respective duties under the direction and supervision of the foreign minister.
