Hugh Jackman is facing backlash for attending the 2026 Met Gala with his new girlfriend, Sutton Foster.
The 57-year-old Hollywood star’s latest appearance was seen as a brutal final blow to his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, when they attended the fashion’s biggest night on Monday, holding hands.
Social media users described Hugh’s move as “disrespectful” and “classless.”
“Thumbs down! It’s forever team Debbie over here!!” one person penned.
“Poor Deborra,” commented another one.
“Not a fan,” a third one chimed in.
“I lost big respect for him,” wrote a fourth one.
“Yes, pathetic,” someone chipped in.
For those unversed, Hugh began dating Sutton after ending his 27-year marriage with Deborra.
The Wolverine star looked handsome in a black tuxedo with a stylish velvet jacket at the Met Gala, while the Younger actress donned a glittering gold one-shoulder gown.
The two looked totally smitten as they posed on the red carpet.
It is pertinent to mention here that Hugh and Deborra announced their separation in September 2023 via a joint statement on social media.
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the penned at that time.
“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness,” read the joint statement. “We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
The exes are also parents to two adult kids – son Oscar, 25, and daughter Ava, 20.
