A housewife named Rita Rani Majumdar was found dead with her throat slit by unidentified miscreants at midnight in Gabtali upazila in Bogura.
The incident took place around 12:15am last night (21 May) when the miscreants allegedly entered her house in the Mominhata Dakshinpara area of the upazila.
The deceased, 45-year-old Rita Rani Majumdar, was the wife of Bidhan Chandra Roy of the area.
Their son and daughter live in Dhaka for educational purposes while they used to stay at home together.
Quoting the victim’s husband, Bidhan Chandra Roy, police said he had dinner with his wife around 10pm yesterday (20 May) and later went to sleep in separate rooms as usual.
“Around 12:15am, I woke up hearing a loud banging sound on the door of my room. Moments later, I heard unusual groaning sounds coming from my wife’s room. When I rushed inside, I found Rita Rani’s throat-slit body lying motionless on the floor. I then screamed for help and noticed that the main entrance door of the house was open,” Bidhan said.
Being informed, police rushed to the scene and recovered the bloodstained body from the bedroom.
Police said Rita Rani was found lying on the floor of her bedroom with her throat slit.
Police are working to investigate the killing and identify and arrest those involved, said Humayun Kabir, assistant superintendent of Police (Gabtali Circle) in Bogura.
