State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, popularly known as Zonayed Saki, has said the government wants to build a humane, skilled, and future-ready workforce through new knowledge creation, innovation, and technology-based skills development.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 held at the auditorium of the Novo Theatre in Dhaka today (14 September), Saki said effective coordination and partnerships among the government, business and industry, and academia are essential to making the country’s development sustainable and dynamic.
He said inter-ministerial coordination needs to be strengthened in development planning and project implementation, adding that coordination between the planning ministry and every ministry and division should be increased to prevent overlapping and duplication in development projects.
This, he said, would ensure the maximum and effective use of public resources while reducing the time and cost required to implement projects.
The state minister said coordinated initiatives among business and industry, academia and the government, which he described as a “trinity”, are crucial for innovation and economic development.
Linking research and innovation with the practical needs of industries will create greater opportunities for new technologies, employment and entrepreneurship, he added.
Saki also said the government wants to increase coordination between government organisations and private and voluntary organisations in every area of development.
He said comprehensive and inclusive development will be accelerated through such partnerships while ensuring the best use of the same platforms and infrastructure.
The state minister said Bangladesh must utilise the innovative potential of its young people to build a knowledge-based and technology-driven economy.
He said innovation fairs like this create opportunities for young innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, students and industry representatives to connect and exchange experiences.
