A fire broke out at a garment factory compound in Ashulia’s Jamgora this evening (20 September) after gas cylinders on a covered van reportedly exploded.
The incident occurred around 6:45pm inside the premises of a garment factory, confirmed Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer at the control room of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast was followed by a fire that spread from the covered van carrying the cylinders to several lorries and other vehicles parked nearby. They also reported hearing several more explosions.
Multiple eyewitnesses told The Business Standard that although the fire spread to the covered van and nearby vehicles, the main factory building was not affected.
Local sources identified the factory as Priti Garments, but The Business Standard could not independently verify the name or other details of the incident immediately.
