A motorcycle has been found around 3km from the spot where the body of former Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Sauri was recovered, with law enforcement now verifying whether it belonged to the deceased.
The motorcycle was found in the Mazar Basti area under Tongi West Police Station.
The River Police is leading the investigation into his death, while the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is conducting a parallel investigation, considering the incident a matter of national importance.
The PBI is also assisting the River Police with the investigation. Abu Yusuf, superintendent of police at the PBI media wing, confirmed the matter.
He said the River Police is investigating the case, but the PBI, along with other police units, is conducting a parallel probe given the incident’s national significance.
Information gathered during the investigation is being handed over to the River Police, he added.
Abu Yusuf also confirmed that the motorcycle was found around 3km from where Tahsif’s body had been recovered. Authorities are still verifying whether it belonged to the former Air Force officer.
Earlier, his body was recovered from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat in Uttarkhan on the afternoon of Wednesday (28 October).
The PBI took Shahriar Reza Dwip, a close acquaintance of Tahsif Souri, into custody for questioning over Souri’s death last night (29 October).
Tahsif’s name was linked to the recording and publication of the video showing ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana boarding a helicopter to get to the aircraft that took them to India.
