The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) Institute have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand collaboration on economic research, training and knowledge-sharing.
DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed and ERF President Doulot Akter Mala signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at the DCCI auditorium today (7 October).
The partnership will facilitate joint training programmes, workshops, seminars, research projects and other knowledge-sharing initiatives focused on Bangladesh’s economy.
DCCI Senior Vice President Razeev H Chowdhury said economic reporting plays an important role in helping entrepreneurs and policymakers respond to emerging challenges at home and abroad.
He expressed hope that the joint initiatives would strengthen the professional skills of journalists covering economic issues and improve their understanding of key developments.
The programmes will include training, workshops, seminars and research activities under the agreement.
ERF President Doulot Akter Mala said DCCI had extensive experience and a strong reputation in economic research.
She said the MoU would create opportunities for the two organisations to jointly study Bangladesh’s economy, particularly issues related to trade and investment.
The findings, she said, could contribute to informed policymaking, necessary reforms and private sector development.
DCCI Secretary General Dr A K M Asaduzzaman Patwary, ERF General Secretary Abul Kashem and members of the ERF Executive Committee were also present at the signing ceremony.
