The Chattogram Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) is set to transform its customer service into a one-stop digital platform to ensure efficiency, transparency and enhanced service quality, Managing Director Salim Mohammad Jane Alam announced today (22 July).
“Chattogram Wasa must fully transition into a digital service system within the next four to five years, and WaterAid’s proposal is a positive step toward that goal,” the managing director said at a workshop at the conference room of the Wasa building.
The workshop titled “Billing System Improvement Workshop” was jointly organised by WaterAid Bangladesh and Chattogram Wasa.
Jane Alam also commended WaterAid Bangladesh for its initiative to develop a one-stop digital platform for Chattogram Wasa.
“Above all, we want to prioritise the interests of CWasa and improve customer service quality through digitalisation and transparency.
Upgrading the billing system will undoubtedly elevate customer service,” he added.
The managing director also instructed Chattogram Wasa officials to extend full cooperation and provide constructive feedback to further refine the digital platform.
Furthermore, he sought WaterAid’s assistance in strengthening revenue collection from low-income communities, suggesting the utilisation of WaterAid’s prior experience in working with Dhaka Wasa in similar initiatives.
At the event, participating meter inspectors and officials shared their field-level experiences, operational challenges, and practical suggestions, which organisers noted would be instrumental in tailoring the digital platform to Chattogram Wasa’s operational needs.
