A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on two National Security Intelligence (NSI) officials amid separate investigations by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The officials are NSI Additional Director MSK Shaheen and Joint Director Badrul Ahmed.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir passed the orders today (31 August) following two separate applications filed by the ACC.
ACC Assistant Director Bilkis Akter submitted the applications seeking travel bans on the two officials.
According to the application concerning Badrul Ahmed, the ACC is investigating allegations of money laundering against him.
The application said the ACC had received information from a reliable source that Badrul was attempting to leave the country. If he fled abroad, recovering the allegedly laundered money would become difficult, it said.
The ACC is also investigating allegations against MSK Shaheen of abuse of power, bribery, extortion and acquiring assets beyond known sources of income.
The application said Shaheen was also attempting to leave the country and that his departure could make it difficult to recover allegedly laundered money.
