The visit of a high-profile delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to Dhaka aims to further strengthen the longstanding economic and commercial engagement between India and Bangladesh and explore opportunities to expand bilateral trade, investment and industrial cooperation, according to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and Foreign Affairs State Minister Shama Obaed Islam.
The meetings are expected to provide an opportunity to exchange views on strengthening trade and investment, addressing issues of mutual interest and identifying areas where greater commercial cooperation can benefit both sides.
The delegation will also attend a luncheon with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), with Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo as the chief guest.
The programme will bring the visiting business representatives together with leading Bangladeshi companies and industry leaders to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
The visit comes as the CII seeks to deepen business-to-business engagement and expand economic cooperation with Bangladesh.
The industry body has previously identified greater market access, reduced non-tariff barriers and improved border infrastructure as areas that could help increase bilateral trade.
The Indian High Commission said the discussions will also focus on emerging areas of cooperation and facilitating greater engagement between businesses of the two countries.
