Carnie Wilson recently got candid and opened up about her mental health issues.
According to Radar Online, the 58-year-old American singer stated that keeping her mental health intact has not been an easy journey for her.
She went on to share that she has struggled with addiction and depression because of her family history, as her famous father, Brian Wilson, the cofounder of the Beach Boys, and her grandmother also suffered “pretty gnarly depression.”
Carnie said, “As I’ve gotten older, I can’t sit with my own emotions too much. I like to reach my hand out and connect with people because it makes me feel better too.”
The Karen Carpenter: Starving for Perfection star went on to share that “every day is different. Because of my sobriety, my program is one day at a time. I have to just know that one day I might wake up and be like, ‘The sky’s falling, everything sucks, I’m scared of everything.’”
“And some days I wake up and I’m like, ‘I feel really good today, I got a good sleep.’ I know this sounds silly, but I’m trying to challenge myself more to face my fears,” she quipped.
It is pertinent to mention that Carnie Wilson, who is the mother of daughters Lola and Luci, lost her father Brian in June 2025 after he “was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.”
