Police have recovered the body of a man from the Padma River in Munshiganj, which is initially suspected to be that of Forkan Miah, the prime accused in the recent five murders in Gazipur.
Mohammad Ilias, in-charge of Mawa Naval Police Outpost, said the body appears to be several days old and has decomposed significantly.
“However, from the facial features and the clothing, it is initially suspected that the body could be that of Forkan,” he said.
Locals spotted the body floating among water hyacinths in the Padma River this noon (16 May) and informed police.
Members of the Mawa naval police later recovered the body from the scene at around 4pm.
On 8 May, Forkan Miah went into hiding after allegedly slitting the throats of his wife, three daughters and brother-in-law in Kapasia, Gazipur, in an incident that sparked nationwide shock.
A murder case was later filed, naming Forkan Miah as the prime accused.
